The Venetian Arsenal (Torri dell'Arsenale) played an important role in Venice's history.  Many of the Venetian Republic's commercial and military vessels were built and maintained here. The facility is said to date back to the 12th century.

Visitors to Venice can enjoy the beautiful Porta Magna sculptures located to the left of the main gates.
