The Grand Canal (Canal Grande) is Venice's famous maritime waterway that meanders through the Venetian Islands in the shape of a backward "S".  This busy transportation corridor connects the city's main tourist venues including San Marco Square, the Accademia Museum, the Rialto Bridge and Venice's main train station.
