Venetian Arsenal

The Venetian Arsenal (Torri dell'Arsenale) played an important role in Venice's history.  The facility, which is identifiable from its twin towers, is said to date back to the 12th century.

Many of the Venetian Republic's commercial and military vessels were built and maintained here.
