Bridge of Sighs

The Bridge of Sighs in Venice Italy connects Doges' Palace (Palazzo Ducale) to an old prison.

The name of the bridge stems from the fact that prisoners would catch their last glimpses of freedom from the bridge as they were taken from the Doges' Palace to the execution block in the prison.
